Girlhood

These are photos made in a time before I considered myself a photographer, they were true documents of the life I was living as a model in New York with friends I made. We were all around 18 years old, from all over the world; the fashion industry was our international school. This was a unique coming of age story. With financial freedom and an unusual amount of power in our bodies, we built an ideal world together that turned into a family system. Everything was new; we played in New York, we experimented with life and substances and friends and travel. We also hurt, we felt homesick, we felt confused about our place in the world, and from this vulnerability we built a network between ourselves that would sustain us far into the future.
